LaHug’s Captains 2019 – Round 18

0

From the numbers below, there could be some big scores again this week. That said, if you’re missing the key premiums (like my awful team seems to be), you might be in for a big loss in your league games.

VC Options – Round 18

Travis Boak

Last 3: 122, 114, 118 (118 avg)

Last 3 against Richmond: 134, 74, 84 (97 avg)

Last 3 at MCG: 119, 117, 72 (103 avg)

Boak continues to score well and scored a nice 134 against the Tigers earlier this year. I think he should get there again. Prediction – 130

Patrick Cripps

Last 3: 115, 78, 194 (129 avg)

Last 3 against Gold Coast: 169, 173, 115 (152 avg)

Last 3 at Docklands: 78, 194, 116 (129 avg)

The last two times Cripps played the Suns, he went HUGE! Just three games ago, he smashed out a 194. We all know what the ceiling is and, with the VC option, there’s very little risk. The tag is a real concern but Laird still managed 30 touches with Scheer on him last week. Prediction – 140

Lachie Whitfield

Last 3: 101, 65, 115 (94 avg)

Last 3 against Collingwood: 115, 96, 53 (88 avg)

Last 3 at Showgrounds: 65, 170, 152 (129 avg)

Whitfield has scored some very big scores at the Sydney Showgrounds this year and will be carrying an even bigger midfield load with Coniglio and Kelly out this week. Prediction – 130

Brodie Grundy

Last 3: 137, 145, 133 (138 avg)

Last 3 against GWS: 118, 139, 82 (113 avg)

Last 3 at Showgrounds: 82, 91, 72 (82 avg)

Brodie Grundy vs. Dawson Simpson is a huge win for Grundy. He’s been very poor in Sydney’s west previously but I think he’ll be good this week. Prediction – 135

Lachie Neale

Last 3: 118, 151, 137 (135 avg)

Last 3 against North: 140, 74, 90 (101 avg)

Last 3 at Gabba: 137, 114, 148 (133 avg)

Neale’s last few weeks have been fantastic and a 118 from only 24 touches means a very good floor too. He scored 140 against the Roos in Round 2 this year and will likely go big again this week. Prediction – 140

Nat Fyfe

Last 3: 154, 76, 147 (126 avg)

Last 3 against Sydney: 101, 115, 145 (120 avg)

Last 3 at Perth: 76, 147, 129 (117 avg)

With a plethora of good options this week, a guy that scored 76 just two weeks ago might not be the best choice. Then again, that same guy scored 154 last week and 147 three weeks ago. Fyfe is pretty good against the Swans, I guess. Prediction – 125

Captain Options – Round 18

Patrick Dangerfield

Last 3: 163, 146, 83 (131 avg)

Last 3 against Hawthorn: 127, 160, 130 (139 avg)

Last 3 at MCG: 149, 26, 127 (101 avg)

Danger loves to play the Hawks and is in fantastic form. Lock him in if your VC flops. Prediction – 145

Max Gawn

Last 3: 117, 46, 151 (105 avg)

Last 3 against West Coast: 144, 79, 156 (126 avg)

Last 3 at Alice Springs: 114, 167, 36 (106 avg)

Max got through last week pretty well and should do even better this week against the Eagles now that Nic Nat’s ruled out. Prediction – 140

Jack Macrae

Last 3: 120, 116, 142 (126 avg)

Last 3 against St Kilda: 121, 85, 114 (107 avg)

Last 3 at Docklands: 120, 116, 148 (128 avg)

Macrae continues to score well and now comes up against the hapless Saints. New coach or not, I wouldn’t be backing the Saints against the rampaging Dogs and I think Macrae goes well in another win. Prediction – 125

Josh Dunkley

Last 3: 202, 103, 111 (139 avg)

Last 3 against St Kilda: 132, 94, 33 (86 avg)

Last 3 at Docklands: 202, 103, 101 (135 avg)

Congratulations to anyone that made Dunkley captain last week. He’d been good, particularly for a forward, but the numbers didn’t scream captain. They do now though! Not just the 202 last week, Dunkley scored a 132 against the Saints last year. That was his second best score of the season! Prediction – 130

LaHug’s POD

Jake Lloyd

Last 3: 115, 122, 62 (100 avg)

Last 3 against Fremantle: 173, 82, 72 (109 avg)

Last 3 at Perth: 119 (119 avg)

Last year against the Dockers, Lloyd scored 173. That’s about the only reason I’ve got him here but I kinda think there’s a chance he does it again… Potential – 173
