LaHug’s Captains 2019 – Round 12

0

In another cruel example of my season so far, Cogs scored 207 just two weeks after I traded him out to avoid a donut. Meanwhile, the GWS superstar I traded in last week copped a hard hit and only scored 65. In good news, my Top C scored 158 and, in what is starting to feel weirdly frequent, my POD pick scored a handy 135.

VC Options – Round 12

Patrick Dangerfield

Last 3: 130, 115, 99 (115 avg)

Last 3 against Richmond: 132, 102, 101 (112 avg)

Last 3 at MCG: 26, 127, 97 (83 avg)

A couple of good scores in a row for Danger and he comes up against the Tigers this week. A nice VC choice because we know his ceiling and will happily lock in a 130 with the two rucks going head-to-head this week. Prediction – 130

Mitch Duncan

Last 3: 101, 123, 144 (123 avg)

Last 3 against Richmond: 110, 97, 131 (113 avg)

Last 3 at MCG: 126, 82, 79 (96 avg)

A 101 despite a hard tag from Ryan Clarke is awesome and shows how good Duncan has been this season. Richmond won’t be tagging him so expect a good score. Prediction – 130

Patrick Cripps

Last 3: 89, 116, 66 (90 avg)

Last 3 against Brisbane: 93, 118, 95 (102 avg)

Last 3 at Docklands: 116, 123, 110 (116 avg)

Cripps has shown that he cannot handle a tag. This is not good for his fantasy prospects. Carlton is such a one man team that even teams that usually don’t tag will probably give Cripps attention just to make the victory all the more certain. Stay away until he breaks a tag. Prediction – 95

Lachie Neale

Last 3: 114, 79, 148 (114 avg)

Last 3 against Carlton: 134, 159, 134 (142 avg)

Last 3 at Docklands: 140, 119, 159 (139 avg)

Look who loves playing Carlton. Look who loves playing under the Docklands roof. With a BE of 169 and a bye next week, nobody will be trading him in to catch what will be an awesome score. If you have Neale, get a leg up and give him the VC. Prediction – 145

Dayne Zorko

Last 3: 85, 117, 121 (108 avg)

Last 3 against Carlton: 129, 142, 151 (141 avg)

Last 3 at Docklands: 76, 66, 103 (82 avg)

Look who else loves playing Carlton. Zorko’s more of a POD pick and probably won’t score as well as Neale but those numbers are very nice. Prediction – 130

Captain Options – Round 12

Josh Kelly

Last 3: 138, 148, 131 (139 avg)

Last 3 against Adelaide: 82, 97, 113 (97 avg)

Last 3 at AO: 130, 97, 113 (113 avg)

Not great history against the Crows but Kelly’s form is undeniable. With Sloane potentially missing and even Crouch not locked in, a weakened Adelaide midfield might mean a huge score for Kelly. Prediction – 130

Stephen Coniglio

Last 3: 207, 76, 75 (119 avg)

Last 3 against Adelaide: 82, 89, 132 (101 avg)

Last 3 at AO: 143, 89, 132 (121 avg)

I hate you. Prediction – 110

Jake Lloyd

Last 3: 123, 115, 141 (126 avg)

Last 3 against West Coast: 122, 119, 98 (113 avg)

Last 3 at SCG: 115, 83, 107 (102 avg)

Lloyd looks back to his best and loves playing his rebound role against the Eagles. Hopefully the Eagles can kick lots of behinds because his score will be hurt if they can kick 21.7 again this week. Prediction – 125

Elliot Yeo

Last 3: 90, 115, 136 (114 avg)

Last 3 against Sydney: 144, 109, 141 (131 avg)

Last 3 at SCG: 144, 73, 68 (95 avg)

Despite Yeo being poor last week, he’s still in some good SC form and he loves to play the Swans. Prediction – 130

Brodie Grundy

Last 3: 124, 165, 144 (144 avg)

Last 3 against Melbourne: 98, 93, 116 (102 avg)

Last 3 at MCG: 124, 144, 141 (136 avg)

Don’t do it. Grundy gets so many of his points dominating opposition rucks around the ground. In his last three matchups against Gawn, he’s recorded 38, 12, and 22 hit outs. It’s just not a good matchup. Take your captain before this game. Prediction – 100

Max Gawn

Last 3: 158, 149, 144 (150 avg)

Last 3 against Collingwood: 76, 67, 119 (87 avg)

Last 3 at MCG: 149, 127, 145 (140 avg)

Don’t do it. Gawn gets so many of his points dominating opposition rucks around the ground. In his last three matchups against Grundy, he’s recorded 33, 35, and 31 hit outs. It’s just not a good matchup. Take your captain before this game. Prediction – 100

LaHug’s POD

Luke Parker

Last 3: 135, 135, 145 (138 avg)

Last 3 against West Coast: 79, 149, 92 (107 avg)

Last 3 at SCG: 135, 114, 105 (118 avg)

I’ll just keep him here every week while he’s scoring 135s and is only in 2% of teams. We all know Parker has a history of good scoring and it looks like he’s repeating his past and then some. If it weren’t byes, I’d be tempted to grab him this week before it’s too late. If you have him, give him the C if your loophole fails. Potential – 140
